Completed Project: Seattle Courtyard

Seattle homeowners Bob and Melisse wanted to replace their existing courtyard.  The courtyard was a bit stark and water tended to collect within the courtyard.  The courtyard’s lawn often looked sparce and promoted moss growth. Bob and Melisse travel often and wanted a new courtyard that was easy to maintain and would look good when they returned from their travels.

Arlene Wing, the Lifestyle Landscapes designer who led this project, wanted to introduce green and life into the space, while minimizing maintenance and addressing the drainage issue.

When Arlene’s design was installed it met all of her design goals.  She selected a synthetic turf to replace the lawn, reducing maintenance and drainage issues.

The project included new area lighting, irrigation system extensions, installing a homeowner provided water feature, drainage mitigation, installing courtyard pavers, installing synthetic turf, augmentation of existing plants, and completing the landscape finish.

After the design was complete Lifestyle Landscapes craftsmen spent ten days to install Arlene’s design.

The courtyard boarder softened the transition between the patio and courtyard paver design.  This boarder also incorporates a locally manufactured metal draw channel made with 80-100% recycled materials.

The project met the homeowners’ exceptions and Arlene’s quality expeditions.  Arlene received the following email from Melisse:

“Hi Arlene–

We returned home from 4 weeks in Maui last week and even after the huge windstorm our yard looks amazing!

While colors are fading and some plants are withering it has endured through November, which is exactly what we hoped for–no backyard mud pit, much more light and we have had many compliments!

All your selections are perfect.  Couldn’t have asked for more!”
